A hefty design at 41.5g in a 0.38"(9.65 mm) diameter with a round nose section and moderate machining texture for grip. Smooth and tough C63000 Nickel Aluminum Bronze is shiny and will develop a darker patina over time.
Equipped with the excellent OHTO C-307 rollerball refill. This refill has a particularly good dimensional design. Tip details allow fully supported travel through actuation and a captured element on the back of the refill prevents any rattle.
Revised work holding and setup process keep mechanism details better in line than previous designs. No o-ring bumper for this design. Spring rates are pretty optimum removing the need for the bumper. Uses a 1/8" (0.125") bearing ball and a custom made precision secondary spring.
Proper allowance and a custom precision spring allow the refill to operate very smoothly. There is a tight fit between the button stanchion and the mechanism body making it more resistant to binding from pressing the button on an angle.
The mechanism comes equipped with one stainless steel bearing ball and one borosilicate glass ball. Tip details are extremely tight with a small land between the refill, and the rounded section.
Pinch the mechanism between your index finger and thumb to retract the mechanism with a satisfying snap. The click and return is very solid and super satisfying. Tolerances, fit and finish for the mechanism are very close.
Tip point details are very clean with an excellent tight fitting 2.3 mm diameter bore and a tolerance of just 25 micron to keep the refill tip exactly in place.
Higbee thread start to the pen body to make the thread action for replacing the refill better. Added a new locking feature that should keep the mechanism from unscrewing without the need for an o-ring or loctite.
This version is 5.26" (133.6 mm) long, 0.38" (9.65 mm) in diameter, and weighs 41.5 g (1.46 oz).
